The gorge of the river Aare is situated between Meiringen and Innertkirchen in the Bernese Oberland. It is often called a wonder of nature. The narrowest place in the gorge is only 1 Meter wide, but the gorge is up to 200 Meters deep. One of the highlights of the gorge, the waterfall Schräybach is on a separate page.

The Aare takes its source near the Grimsel Pass and finally flows into the Rhine after a cross-country trip through Switzerland and many swiss cities.
