The following 8 photos of the french atlantic coast have been taken at the cape 'Cap Ferret'.

Cap Ferret is situated across the great Dune of Pilat, on the west side of the entry of the Arcachon basin. The distance from the Dune to Cap Ferret is only some 4 km as the crow flies, but it is some 80 km by road, because you need to go round the Arcachon basin.

Some of the photos have been taken at the top of the lighthouse of Cap Ferret, from where wonderful views can be catched in all directions. The Dune of Pilat to the south-east, the basin of Arcachon to the north-east, the high sea to the west.

If you start here and sail rigorously towards the west, always keeping the same latitude, you will reach Nova Scotia east-north-east of Halifax in Canada.
