The following 10 photos have been taken at and near the Mont Saint-Michel. The Mont St Michel is situated at the limits of Normandy and Brittany in the north-west of France.

This small island in linked to the continent by the dike of Pontorson. When the tide is high the waters are surrounding the Mont St-Michel, but when the tide is low the waters retire far away. The distance can be a few km.

Some zones of quicksand can be rather dangerous for unsuspecting hikers. When the waters come back, it may be at the speed of a galopping horse.

Have a look at the rock of Tombelaine, far behind the Mont St-Michel, where there is no water on one of the wallpapers (5th) and after the waters came back on another wallpaper (6th).

The car and bus parkings on the right and left of the dike are practicable for a few hours only, after what they are recovered by the waters.
