The following 15 photos of the Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg have been taken in Alsace, France.

The Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg, which means High Kings Castle, was first mentioned in 1147 under the name Hohenstaufen's Castle. In the 15th century, the Castle was occupied by Knight brigands, destructed and later reconstructed by the Thiersteins. In the 17th century, the Castle fell into neglect after having been sieged and pillaged by the Swedish army during the 30 years war. In 1899 the ruins of the Castle have been given as a gift to the Emperor Willhelm II by the town of Sélestat. From 1900 to 1908, the Castle has been restored by the Berlin architect Bodo Ebhardt. Nowadays the Castle of Haut Koenigsbourg is classified in France as a National Castle.
