The following 12 photo-wallpapers have been taken in Basel on the 3rd day of the Carnival of Basel 2009, Basler Fasnacht.

The Carnival of Basel always starts on the Monday following Ash Wednesday at 4:00 am and lasts 72 hours. For 72 hours, the pipers and drummers are clinking in the downtown alleys without a rest, day and night. The themes of the 'cliques' are inspired by local and international events. There are about 18000 active Fasnacht participants. Let's have a look into the 3 most beautyful days of the year.
