The following 6 photo-wallpapers show Father Christmas called 'Père Noël' in France. Do not call him Santa Claus, because he won't like it.

Indeed the name Santa Claus derives from Saint Nicholas, in German Sankt Nikolaus, in Swiss German Sämi Chlaus, in Dutch Sinterklaas. In Lorraine, France, where the Father Christmas illustrated on the wallpapers below has been seen, both Persons, Saint Nicholas and Father Christmas are well known and not to be confounded.

This figure is never accompanying Father Christmas.

Father Christmas is coming in the night between the 24 and the 25 December, on Christmas Day, has a soft hat, often travels with a sleigh drawn by 8 reindeers. It is also said that he comes dawn the chimney to bring the gift parcels.
