6 of the following 8 photos of the Great Dune of Pilat in the Atlantic Ocean series have been taken on the dune of Pilat near Pyla-Plage.

The 1st and 2nd photo wallpapers have been taken at Cap Ferret, situated on the west side of the entry of the Arcachon basin.

Pyla-Plage is situated a few km at the south of Arcachon, just at the entry of the basin of Arcachon well known for its oysters.

The Great Dune of Pilat with its height of 115m (+/- always varying) and a length of more than 4 km is the highest dune of Europe. It attracts a lot of tourists in the summer season.

Southerly of the dune of Pilat, there are many smaller dunes beyond Biscarosse-Plage, Mimizan-Plage and almost until Biarritz, along the nearly 200 km of the Landes coast.
